gent.mx vs Email Forwarding & Routing
Routing moves mail. gent.mx keeps the work record.
Cloudflare Email Service, ImprovMX, Forward Email, SimpleLogin, and similar tools are routing or alias layers first. Some add code hooks, reply paths, send APIs, storage, or delivery controls, but the buyer still has to decide where work state lives. gent.mx is a full inbox for delegated work: it receives, stores, sends, automates, and keeps the record around the action.

When gent.mx is the right choice
- Forwarding and routing tools are primarily delivery layers. Some offer storage or APIs on paid plans, but the product model is still routing mail rather than operating a delegated inbox.
- Routing gets a message to the right place. Gent turns the message into accountable work: who handled it, what changed, what followed, and what still needs a human.
- For the Gent view of routing, see the email routing for AI agents guide.
- If the question is coexistence with Gmail, Outlook, forwarding tools, or help desks, see Gent with your existing email stack.
- When the question is classification, escalation, or what should happen next, see the AI email triage guide.
- Some routing tools support reply aliases, inbound code hooks, webhooks, or paid storage. gent.mx is different because replies, automation, approvals, and sequences live in the same persistent inbox model.
- Cloudflare Email Service is becoming more capable, especially for teams already building on Cloudflare. gent.mx is different because the managed inbox, workflow state, contacts, and audit record are one product.
- The two aren't mutually exclusive: use a forwarder as an alias layer on top of a gent.mx inbox if you need both.

When a routing tool is the right choice
If you already have an inbox you're happy with and just need to receive mail at a custom domain or alias, basic forwarding is often quick and inexpensive to set up.
- You want a custom-domain address (hello@yourcompany.com) that forwards to your existing Gmail or Outlook — routing tools often handle this cheaply or for free.
- You need privacy aliases so your real address stays hidden. SimpleLogin and similar services are purpose-built for that.
- You're using Cloudflare Email Workers to run custom logic on inbound mail and are comfortable owning storage, search, and workflow state yourself.
- Budget is zero. The free tiers of routing tools usually cover basic forwarding at no cost.
